Film Studio Logos are the initial titles, usually projected at the beginning of a film. They are often an ignored aspect of films, although they reflect the time period or era of the film, the mood or design of the film, and much more.
Here is some examples of film studio logos we looked at, most of the logos were in capital letters and bold fonts. This is because the film logo acts as a way of claiming the film as their own as well as advertising the company. We looked at the way in which the film logos are designed. This involves their colour schemes, fonts, icons and general appearance. From the mood board embedded about you can see that we found that most studios portrayed their name in capital letters, this is done as the studio name is seen as something of importance and the studios want their name to be conveyed to the audience. This is because if a viewer is aware of the creators of a film and they enjoy it they may be intrigued to watch more of their films, this means an increase in profit for the studio as well as virtually free advertising through their own products. We also noted simalarities between the studies as the majority of the studios have a visual icon in partnership with their name, this adds a visual aspect that can be recognised by viewers. Most of the pictures play a part or have a link with the studio for example "Summit" has a background of a mountain silhouette this links to the idea of a mountain summit.
Moreover there is also similarities in the way the text is presented, the majority of texts appear to be below or above the icon, and are completely separate to the visuals this is because the name of the studio is more significant to the studio's advertising therefore is shown with more importance than the icon. However there are certain differences in the film studies logo's such as "Warner Brothers" icon is incorporated into the studios name.
Upon our research we decided to develop a name for our studio, we saw how the studios made subtle links between the visuals and the studio name yet also how the names are often short and snappy using filmmaking defining terms such as "pictures". We formed the idea of also mirroring this effect but also using more vintage elements which we saw when looking through the evolution of the studios logos.
We then decided to use specialist filming terms in our name, we formed the idea of using a typical filming connotation of "lens". Lens is associated with filming, cameras however does not specify the type of film we make, therefore any genre of film is applicable to this logo. Moreover the title "Lens" we found was too unspecified and needed a concrete identification to the film industry therefore we decided to incorporate the word "production" to form "lens production". Once we had established a possible studio name we then progressed to forming the visual concept of the logo, after our research previously conducted we know that the logo tends to have a subtle link to the studio name therefore as we had decided our name was "lens productions" a rational link would to be a camera. However to incorporate a vintage element we decided to use a old fashioned camera. After experimenting with pictures we formed the idea of incorporating a GIF (A graphic interchange format) the GIF looses the format of the image giving it both animated and static image elements. We formed a GIF of a old fashioned camera role, this linked to our name and also established the studio well.

Furthermore we then decided to try experimenting with a more obscure name, that would stand out. We decided to form a studio name that would suggest horror films yet however also remained a GIF. Upon some research we formed our idea of "Devil Hat Productions" this name incorporated a horror element through the use of the devil yet however still established its studio name through the terminology of "Productions".

We also created another GIF called "Lime Light Productions" we filmed our own GIF and edited it adding a studio name, this was the preferred GIF as it was created originally by us,
